There are 3 main reasons why you’d usually consider a re-wire:
If your home hasn’t been rewired in the last 25-30 years, the chances are it’s time for an upgrade. Sometimes, this doesn’t mean a complete full re-wire is necessary, but after this length of time at least a partial re-wire will usually be needed in order to bring it up to current standards. Old wiring could potentially be dangerous and unable to cope with the demands we all place onto an electrical system nowadays.
If you’re planning a big project within your home and having major remodelling completed, it’s likely you’ll need to re-wire a part of your home. Potentially, you may need to re-wire all of your home, but this depends on the work being completed.
If you’re extending your home or converting rooms, this classes as new work, which means new wiring will be needed in order to conform to Part P: Electrical Safety. All existing wiring will also need to be updated to ensure it can cope with the additional demands placed onto it as a result of the new works.
Before any decisions are made about the work that needs to be completed, we will visit your home to assess what work needs to be completed, give advice and provide you with a full, no-obligation quote. We know having major work completed can be a big decision, so rest assured our survey is completely pressure free and tailored to you and your needs.
Re-wires are generally completed in two stages:
First stage – cabling, wiring, circuits and back boxes are all replaced/installed.
Second stage – light fittings, sockets and switches are all installed. All wiring is connected to the consumer unit to make it live.
All work is completed with care and with as little disruption as possible and we’ll take whatever steps are required to protect your home from dirt, dust and mess.
As NICEIC approved electricians, it’s our duty to have safety at the forefront of our minds. So, before everything is connected, we will fully test the circuits to ensure it’s operating in a safe, efficient way. You will be provided with a EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate) to demonstrate all works have been completed in accordance with relevant regulations and safety standards.
